Thailand has a slavery system in its history. The Three Grate Seals Code stipulated the system in detail. Although parties made a contract to sell persons, the seller could redeem the sold persons, namely slaves. From this point of view, Thai slavery system had a function of a security system. As the slavery system has this function, the buyer had to deal leniently slaves. If the buyer violated this liability to preserve, redemption price was reduced partly or totally. This treatment shows that slaves were used as collateral. The main factor of sustaining the slavery system was the high value of a person. But, in late 19th century, land price rose, people substituted land for a person as collateral. The great transformation occured in Thai security system. The history of Thai slavery system indicates that each society has their important assets and the security system is able to vary in each country.
