The purpose of this study was to investigate the reciprocal influences between school stressors and self-worth among junior high school students. A sample of 237 junior high school students participated in a questionnaire survey three times. SEM using cross-lag model was conducted. The data indicated that self-worth at Time 1 was the predictor of “study” stressors at Time 2, and that “study” stressors at Time 2 was the predictor of self-worth at Time 3. The data also indicated that self-worth at Time 2 was the predictor of “friend” stressors at Time 3. “Friend” stressors, however, didn't significantly predict self-worth. In addition, multi-sample analysis revealed no gender difference in this model. As a result, self-worth might moderate the influence of both “study” stressors and “friend” stressors. Self-worth and “study” stressors would be related reciprocally, but self-worth and “friend” stressors wouldn't be related reciprocally. The results of present study provided a reminder of the bidirectional nature of relations between self-worth and “study” stressors.
