Trade Negotiations in the East Asian Region: Cooperative versus Non-Cooperative Game Analysis
Zamroni
open access
Full liberalization under the EAFTA can be attained more easily when participating countries can maintain trade agreements under cooperative instead of non-cooperative games. In trade game when No-Liberalization strategy is excluded, the negotiating countries are easier to move to cooperative game without having any further deals such as inter-country tradeoffs. Under non-cooperative trade games, the presence of ASEAN6 as a single entity gives larger welfare impacts to the ASEAN6 member countries. The reciprocity in non-cooperative trade negotiation game can be an accelerator for cooperative game in case when Full-Liberalization cannot be reached by all participating members of the EAFTA.
