Recently, we proposed a new waveband multi/demultiplexer that uses two concatenated arrayed-waveguide gratings. We fabricate the device using silica planar lightwave circuit technology and experimentally confirm its feasibility. The device was designed to accommodate 40 100-GHz-spaced C-band channels on the ITU-T grid and six input fibers simultaneously, that is, one chip can support 240 channels.
