The Career Development of Japanese Football players migrating to Asian Countries

This study explores what kind of career the Japanese football players have through the migration to Asian football club. The pilot survey was carried out in 2012. The qualitative data was collected with the interview to 6 players, 1 coach and 3 club staffs. The interview was conducted at Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand in 2013. Th result was classified by the young players, veteran players, coaches and club staffs. Firstly, the career in Asia for young players was the opportunity to consider football and experience the football culture. One player said the change of his shy character. But the club manager emphasized the necessity for educational training for the career of young players. Secondly, the playing career in Asia for veteran was achieved the function which extends an international career. They had already played as an international player and were employed by their international experience. Thirdly, the coaching career in at Asian football club is now developing. Because Japanese coaching knowledge and skill have acquired reputation from Asian football developing countries, the opportunity to be a coach would increase. It is very important that the pioneer will success or not. Lastly. the points of which the Japanese manager choose proper players were showed. Two clubs owned by Japanese companies was employed Japanese players by their business strategy. It means that the business strategy of the owner company also influences the Japanese player's migration to Asia. This study suggest that the career development of the Japanese football players migrating to Asian Countries has to be discuss more. Furthermore, it would be necessary to establish the career development program for becoming the international football coach.
