For the purpose of improving the energy separation effect in the vortex tube, a special vortex chamber was devised of a form different from those usually employed. Here, the vortex chamber consisted of a short divergent tube connecting to a long straight tube. Experiments were conducted with several different angles of divergence in order to assess effects on vortex flow and energy separation more accurately. In this way an optimum angle for maximum efficiency was found.
