Response of drifting plasma to density perturbation
Okuda, Takayoshi

open access
Various tentative formulae for impedance of a drifting plasma are derived as a function of plasma parameters with help of the transport equation. An unsteady approach is applicable only for special cases where either density or velocity perturbation is considered or the inertia effect is disregarded. On the other hand, a quasi-steady approach has an advantage that both perturbations and deviation from space charge neutrality are involved. The results reveal that the resistive component is always positive, while the inductive one changes the polarity depending on the plasma density and the angular frequency.
