The effect of exercise training on physical fitness level was assessed in hemodaialysis patients by the measurment of heart rate and physical fitness test. The results were follows : (1) Daily physical activities levels or hemodialysis patients were supposed very low from their heart rate changes in daily life. (2) Exercise training reduced the heart rate in exercise and in daily life. (3) After 3 months of exercise training, fitness test score of hemodialysis patients improved (38%) and nearly reached the level of the healthy. (4) Mean heart rates during rythm dance (128beats/min) and table tennis (135 beats/min) were higher than those during bicycle ergometer pedalling (124beats/min) and treadmill walking (118beats/min). (5) There was a positive correlation between training duration and training effect. (reduction of heart rate and gain of fitness test score) Those results suggest that exercise training can improve some of cardio-vascular disfunction and low physical fitness level which exists in some dialysis patients.
