This study explores the strategic alliance-performance relation of automobile companies in China. This study makes a comparison of the financial performance of 65 automobile companies applying to strategic alliance with those ones do not. It is found that the companies with alliance appear to achieve superior profitability, sales growth, and financial soundness compare to those ones do not. Then this study examines past experiences, equity alliance, selecting partner having long term alliance experiences in Taiwan or Hong Kong or Chinese mainland, and a great asset size, which affect performance of companies with alliances respectively. The result shows that all of the factors above lead to good financial performance.
