Mass transfer is primary important problem on the kinetics of ion-exchange reaction and adsorption. The importances of each mass transfer step, that is, liquid film and intraparticle mass transfer and adsorption or desorption rate were analyzed. Simultaneous evaluation method of these mass transfer coefficients was proposed in Chapter 1. Ion-exchange resin has a catalysis in many industrially important reactions. especially in acid or base catalyzed reactions. Hydrolysis of ester was carried out catalyzed by cation-exchange resin in Chapter2 and 3. Hovever, establishment or the theory or catalysis by ion exchangers is future problem. The separation of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte by ionretardation resin is studied and it is analyzed by using moment method in Chapter 4. Finally, adsorption equilibria of phenol were measured for anion exchange resins in aqueous solution. Strong anion exchange resins in the hydroxide form had excellent adsorption abilities compared with those in the chloride form and other adsorbents.
