One of the purposes of our study will be to introduce some simplified indicator for thunderstorm forcast. According to our experiences in summer 1953, authors found that the lightning counter, if designed adequately, should be useful as a indicator of thunderstorm activity and found, however, that there was something to be redesigned to improve the circuit system and the recording system, and to make them to withstand to the practical use. Authors have described, in this paper, the outline of the lightning counter with improved recording system and that of the new atmospheric mean intensity meter for lightning observation, both of which were applied to our thunder-storm observation in summer 1954, and of which performances were tested as an indicator of thunderstorm activity at the same time.
