This field study examined the effectiveness of good image formation in the process of golf skill acquisition by using the new video program developed by authors. The subjects were male undergraduate students who have never experienced golf before. In the every 12 learning phases, a video tape modeled by Jack Nicklaus was presented to control group (n=5), while experimental group (n=5) observed the new video program which was mainly focused on internal imagery of golf skills, before physical practice of golf hittings. After that, they hit 50 practice balls in each learning phase. In comparison with control group, experimental group showed relatively high performance, good swing form, vivid internal imagery of golf swing, good hitting points, and good trajectories of balls. These differences between two groups could be attributed to the vividness of internal imagery of golf swing. It was suggested from this field study that one of the important teaching points in skill learning is to present the video program which facilitates the formation of internal imagery including kinesthetic imagery or information.
