SoTL has become an important movement in higher education in the United States since the late 1990s. Focusing on the Carnegie Academy for theScholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL), established in 1998 to promote the movement, this paper comparatively examines the SoTL projects of three professors in chemistry, history, and political science, who participated in the CASTL’s Scholars Program. It aimed at discovering similarities and differences in the contents and methods of the projects based on the diversity of their fields, as well as in theirviews of the features and effects of the program that were based on their experiences in participating in an interdisciplinary communityof professors. 内容記述 | 教授・学習の学識(Scholarship of Teaching and Learning、以下 「SoTL」と略す)は、教員による授業実践に関する学術的探究を通して教授・学習過程を改善する試みであり、1990 年代後半からアメリカの高等教育界における重要な運動になってきている。本稿では、カーネギー教育振興財団がSoTL の普及のために1998 年に開設したCarnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning(CASTL)に着目し、その中のスカラーズ・プログラムに参加した化学、歴史(教師教育)、政治科学分野の3 教授のSoTL プロジェクトを比較分析することで、異領域における参加者にとっての課題や実践、並びにプログラムの特色や効果に関する認識の相違点と類似点を解明することを目的とした。 本稿では、3 教授のSoTL プロジェクトの課題と方法が、分野の違いを反映して多様だったが、同時に、教育問題を議論する場と学際的な同僚のコミュニティを提供したこと、そして教育学研究手法を中心とする講義やセミナーを提供したことなどを通して、CASTL プログラムが非常に有意義なものだったと認識していることが分かった。 | |||||

内容記述 | The scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) is an attempt to improve teaching and learning processes through scholarly inquiry into classroom practice by professors. SoTL has become an important movement in higher education in the United States since the late 1990s. Focusing on the Carnegie Academy for theScholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL), established in 1998 to promote the movement, this paper comparatively examines the SoTL projects of three professors in chemistry, history, and political science, who participated in the CASTL’s Scholars Program.
