We show that the effects of conservation technologies can be more complex than widely perceived. Specifically, contrary to the common belief, an improvement in the efficiency of either a resource saving technology or a resource regeneration technology may not necessarily result in  the conservation of the resource in the long-run. On the other hand, greener preferences contribute to the long-run environmental conservation.},
