 note = {The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the emotional development of young infants and the emotional availability of their parents. Seven families, consisting of father, mother and the first child less than 5 months old, participated in a play situation. The Emotional Availability of parents and the emotional response of infants were rated using the Emotional Availability Scale. The results showed that; (a) the mothers' sensitivity was higher than the fathers' sensitivity; (b) that there was a relationship between the parents' Emotional Availability and the emotional response of infants; (c) with increasing age of the infants, the mothers' sensitivity increased. The findings suggest that not only the mothers' but also the fathers' emotional availability resulted in an enhanced emotional response on the part of the infants.},
