The number of the books amount to almost 7,000 volumes. Prof. Hiroshi Mizuta's Library covers books and periodicals from European premodern thinkers such as Bodin or Lipsius to those from the end of the Age of Enlightenment, such as Thomas Erskine or John Bruce. The collection's online catalogue was completed in March of 2010. Almost 2,000 volumes including magazines were published before 1850, and designated a rare books of Nagoya University Library. The total number of bibliographic records is 5,837, including 20 magazines. Almost 67 % of his books are written in English, about 15 % in French, 8% in German, and the others are written in Japanese, Italian, Latin, Dutch, Russian, and so on. This report describes the scope of Prof. Hiroshi Mizuta's Library, followed by an outline of the management of the collection, such as cataloging and preservation, and finally, it introduces rare books and magazines which show the feature of the collection, according to Prof. Mizuta's intention in collecting books, as is mentioned in his various essays, such as On my library (「蔵書について」2008), My intellectual development and library building (「ぼくの思想形成と蔵書形成」2010), and so on.}, pages = {55--77}, title = {水田文庫の概要(報告その1)}, volume = {10}, year = {2012} }
