 note = {A priest, who belonged to Kyoto Gozan, the five most important Rinzai temples of Kyoto, was sent Tsushima in rotation to prepare diplomatic documents between Japan and Korea during the Edo period. This rotation system was called “Iteian Rinban-sei”, because the priests arrived at Iteian-temple in Tsushima. Recent study stated that it was possible to reflect the intention of Tokugawa shogunate in Japan-Korea diplomacy by the introduction of this rotation system. But there is one important fact that Kyoto Gozan called for the abolition of this rotation system in 1790’s. However Tokugawa shogunate traditionally maintained the rotation system by taking opinions of Tsushima. They raised various issues which contained the plan to reorganize old Japan-Korea diplomatic systems. According to the plan, new system is under direct control of Tokugawa shogunate. But the proposal was rejected. The rotation system “Iteian Rinban-sei” is maintained for the benefit of Tsushima.},
