This period represented a turning point in contemporary Japanese education because large scale educational reforms are presently proceeding which were based on these reports. In this article, I researched several important policies for reform in the field of high school education. My conclusions are as follows: 1. These reforms have given greater specificity on the requirements for high school admission for students who complete a three years course of higher course of special training school. This measure means that higher courses of special training school and high school course should be treated equally. 2. Part-time courses and correspondence courses of high school are revised to reqire a period of over four years to over three years. In actuality only a small minority will benefit from this particular reform because of the difficulty associated with the three year completion program. 3. A system of course credits and not school years has been established. The merits and demerits of this new system have yet to be adequately ascertained for the Japanese school system. 4. In recent years the variety of course offerings in high school has increased resulting in a difficult evaluation and purpose of high school education. 5. A comprehensive course system significantly different from the special and general course systems has been established. Under this new system, students have the preference to choose a number of variable courses. Because of the recent implementation of the comprehensive course, it is difficult to make an accurate valuation. However, there are merits and demerits associated with these comprehensive courses. 6. Regualatios for high school courses of study have undergone a remarkable diversification over the past few years. A. The number of schools that have been decreasing credit requirements for graduation has expanded. B. In the special course system of high school, the previously unique character has decreased because the number of required credits allocated to special subjects has decreased. C. High schools have established new subjects which are not in the prescribed course of study.}, pages = {175--190}, title = {高校教育改革の現段階 : 1994年}, volume = {41}, year = {1995} }
