His educational theory was estimated at basic theory of Manual Training as general education by Toshio Hosoya. After his litterature, there is little study of Pestalozzi's theory of manual training. So it is not clear why Pestalozzi attached much importance to elementary education in his theory of Manual Training in the early nineteenth century. In this article, I try to consider (1) social and economical state of Switzerland in the early nineteenth century as a context of Pestalozzi's theory of Manual Training in the early nineteenth century. (2) some characteristics of contents and method of Pestalozzi's theory of Manual Training in the early nineteenth century. The conclusion of this study are as follows; (1) Pestalozzi attached much importance to elementary education by reason of influence of industrial state of Switzerland in the early nineteenth century. (2) Pestalozzi proposed mathematical and geometrical contents as indispensable parts of technology education which didn't come into existence enough then.
