 note = {The purpose of this study is to examine when and why students feel angry, sad and delight in everyday life. Seventy-nine university students were requested to keep the so-called emotion diaries during two days. Subjects were instructed to write down ten incidents at least in a day and to refer to why they felt angry, sad or delight on the sheets of emotion diaries divided off by an hour. Analyzing emotion diaries led to some important findings. First, the quantitative change in each emotion from morning to night was shown by some graphs. The pattern of changes in emotion of anger and delight in a day was pretty consistent between two continuous days. That is, it could be interpreted that the changes in frequencies of these emotions were somewhat a function of time along a day. For example, anger was the highest at about 10 o'clock in the morning whereas delight was the most frequent at lunch time. Second, the causes of each emotion were classified into several categories and compared with the results of junior high school students that were conducted last year. University students' anger caused by classmate and family was less than high school students'. Instead, their anger was mainly caused by unknown persons. The causes of sadness were generally similar to those of junior high school students. One different cause of sadness from those of junior high school students was assumption of the future. That is, university students were felt often sad by assuming bad future. With regard to delight, affiliate incidents brought about it to university students while high school students felt ofen delight by getting good performances of school tests. Third, sex differences were not found out clearly. In general, however, men students tended to feel angry more frequently, especially in the morning than women students.
