In the experimental situation, the effects of objective competitive situation were measured, but the effects of subjective competitive situation were not. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper was a review of the competitiveness in order to reconsider the concept of competitiveness. On personality assessment, the competitiveness has been measured as a multi-dimensional construct. In the field of sports psychology, goal for competition has been mainly measured. Both domains have interpreted that competitiveness is the orientation for goal achievement in common. In the discussion, the concept of the competitiveness was divided into 2 types. One was "competitiveness for goal" which aimed at winning the competition itself, and the other was "competitiveness for means" which competed for achieving another goals (e.g. "to development oneself", "to understand each other").
