A total of 732 university students were the participants of this study. The 1905 katakana bigrams were arbitrarily divided into 15 subgroups consist of 127 katakana bigrams. Fifteen lists were constructed by arranging items in each subgroup in a random order, and other 15 lists were also constructed by reversing item order of each of former 15 lists. One of these 30 lists was given to each participant. The participant was asked to rate pronounceability of each katakana bigram on 5-point scale. The mean pronounceability and standard deviation were calculated for each katakana bigram and reported in Table 3. Using pronounceability of katakana bigram, assembled pronounceability for 3-letter and 4-letter katakana words were calculated. Correlation analysis between assembled pronounceability and addressed pronounceability, which is subjective rating of pronounceability for katakana words, reported in Kawakami (in press, submitted) revealed that the correlation between these two pronounceabilities was significant for Japanese 3-letter katakana words, but not for Japanese 4-letter katakana words. 内容記述 In this article, subjective pronouceability of katakana bigram was investigated and reported. From Kawakami's item pool of Japanese 3-letter and 4-letter katakana words (Kawakami, 1998), 1905 katakana bigrams were extracted and investigated. A total of 732 university students were the participants of this study. The 1905 katakana bigrams were arbitrarily divided into 15 subgroups consist of 127 katakana bigrams.
