 note = {The Nippon Kogyo Kai(Nippon Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers) was established on January 28th, 1885, which was the first society in the faculty of technology in modern Japan. The founders of this Institute consisted of mining engineers, metallurgists and geologists. Almost all of these members were about 30 years old, and educated in modern scientific training by foreign scientists and engineers. This paper deals with the period from very beginning to about 1890 of the Institute, and rough sketches of some important members of the early period.},
