In study 1, writing errors were classified 10 error patterns. The phonologically-related kanji writing errors and the orthographically-related errors were dominant. In study 2, subjects were asked their strategies which they used to learn kanji. The most often used strategy was rote rehearsal. The more they used semantically-centered strategy, the less phonologically-related kanji writing errors were. And, rote rehearsal strategy were effective to write orthographically correct kanji. Thus, the relations between writing error ptterns and learning strategy were suggested. Both of semantically-centered strategy and rote rehearsal strategy was important for kanji learning.
