内容記述 This article seeks to describe the process of the formation of a professional concept for improving German nursery schools in the first half of the 19th century. At that time German went through a transition from internal to external childcare due to social change within th country when policies were formed for public facilities. Childcare facilities already existed in Germany as philanthropic entities by the early 19th century. In 1820 the Prussian government introduced the concept of "infant school" from one British Wilderspin. Bayern, Sachsen and Württemberg also introduced their own concepts. In Germany three different nursery schools and training facilities were established; first by Wirht, G., second by Fliedner, T. and third by Fölsing, J.. This paper concludes with four significant points; 1) the importance of Wilderspin's "infant schools" for the Prussian government, 2) the significance of the "Verein"(association) method for operations in a major childcare facilities, 3) the relevance of childcare workers to a profession relying strongly on femininity and maternity, 4) the significance of a new professional profile of teachers who completed a non-curriculum based one-year training or some months. Based on the above, I conclude as follows.: The movement process of the expansion of public childcare facilities and their supporting staff in the first half of the 19th century had promoted professionalism of the vocation of a nursery school teacher.
