The group for children with challenges was mainly operated by parents and met 25 times over a period of roughly 14 months. Twenty-seven children aged 2 to 10 years old participated in the group, and the major disabilities included MR, FDD and others. This group helped the children to maintain their Japanese as well as provided an environment in which to relax. For the parents, this group offered an opportunity to exchange information in their mother language (Japanese) and rendered psychological support. The group also served as a bridge between Japan and the United States and linked the local Japanese community with American society. The group was also used in preparation to move into local programs, and in this regard, the need for cooperation with relevant local agencies was suggested., 国立情報学研究所で電子化したコンテンツを使用している。}, pages = {115--122}, title = {ロス・アンジェルスにおける日本語による障害児グループ活動}, volume = {50}, year = {2003} }
