First, 92 adolescents were asked, "what is important to you when you participate in group activities?" based on their responses, a scale of attitudes toward the group was constructed. Second, the scale was administered to 405 adolescents. Factor analysis revealed a three-factor structure. Then, cluster analysis was conducted based on the 3 scores. The results showed that there were 3 different clusters. Cluster 1 had medium scores for "not acting in a self-centered way", high scores for "discussion with other members", and low scores for "not affecting the group too much". Cluster 2 showed high scores for all three factors. Cluster 3 showed low scores for both "not acting in a self-centered way" and "discussion with other members", and medium scores for "not affecting the group too much".
