As a result of identification based on wood anatomical features, the species was identified as Picea sitchensis (Bong.) Carrière (sitka spruce). A tree-ring chronology with code name AKNCCH01 (it covers AD1689–1990 from 15 woods) was obtained as a result of dendrochronological analysis. AKNCCH01 was compared with chronologies of the southeastern Alaska coastal area and yielded tBP > 6.5. In particular, correlation between AKNCCH01 and chronology of the Prince of Wales Island showed a very high value of tBP = 9.36.
