The purpose of this study is to clarify the frequencies that the events to promote older adults' health were announced in the newspapers. METHODS: We searched the articles announcing the upcoming events to promote the health in five major newspapers (Asahi, Chunichi, Mainichi, Nikkei and Yomiuri) published in Nagoya city in 2008. RESULTS: Six hundred and twenty-one articles were picked up. Chunichi placed 394 articles (63.4%), and Asahi (15.1%), Nikkei (11.1%) followed. CONCLUSIONS: The frequencies announcing the events varied much by the newspapers.
