The data from which the present discussion has been made were obtained by the thunder-storm observation chiefly at daytime in last summer. When the source of atmospherics situates within 50 km. from the station, it has been found that the observed wave-forms are constructed for the most part of the predominant slow changes of static field character and that sudden pulsive changes of differential pulse character superpose frequently on these slow changes of static field. In contrast to the fact that these slow changes decrease their magnitudes rapidly as the distance of source increases, the attenuation of the sudden pulse amplitudes of differential pulse character on the other hand are found to be subjected to comparatively gradual changes with the distance from the station. When the distance from station to source amount to more than 100km., the main discharge character wave is found to change gradually from a wave-form of complex oscillation to that of typical quasi damped oscillation character, which is a special feature of wave-forms from far distant origin. At this distance from origin the wave-forms of this character become to present themselves more frequently than those of pulsive character in contrast to the former case in which the distance from origin is within 50 km. At this stage the smaller amplitude oscillations of higher frequencies, however, superpose still on these rather typical wave-forms from distant origin. Hence it will be concluded that the atmospherics of the smooth quasi damped oscillation wave-form, i.e., the main discharge type waves must come from more than several hundred kilo-meters distant origin. The direct correlation of each atmospheric to each static field change of electricity was made possible by the co-observation of thunder-storms carried out at Maebasi city in last summer between our Institute and Meteorological Research Institute.
