Because of its weak intensity, the subjective method was employed The field intensity of the received whistler is assumed by the known voltage signal from a pseudo-whistling tone generator inserted in the antenna coupling circuit. Errors of several db from the presumption of a preliminary test being expected, the field intensities of whistlers received at Toyokawa measured about 80 microvolts/meter at maximum level and the minimum receiving threshold level measured 6 microvolts/meter at best condition. It was noticed that the occurring frequency of a whistler increased suddenly for two or three hours before and after sunset.
