A turning point in the history of Japan’s souvenirs may have erupted because of this. This study will explain what influenced the emergence of a new confectionary souvenir. First of all, up until the early modern era, the famous Dango (dumplings) and Mochi (rice cakes) have been eaten at Chaya (roadside teahouses) or in front of temples or shrines. These foods were not intended to be taken home, and quickly hardened, making it not suitable as souvenirs. For this reason, souvenirs during that time became Ofuda (bills) and toothpicks, which are light and not bulky. After that, when Chaya’s disappeared in the modern era, there was a tendency to use sweets as souvenirs. This later became well-known in the early modern period throughout railway stations. In other words, this highlights the process of the revival and birth of confectionery souvenirs after the war. After that, it was verified that the \"new confectionery souvenir\" emerged from the genealogy of the previous confectionery souvenirs. This was able to occur on the premise of identifying differences from the confectionery souvenirs of the previous period. Ultimately, modern confectionery souvenirs have a longer shelf life, are contained in a takeaway container, have proof of trust, and sold at railway stations or department stores. These factors led to an increased production of these goods. On the other hand, the “new confectionery souvenirs” represented by Shiroi Koibito in Hokkaido and Hagi no Tsuki in Sendai shared the same mechanism as the past-generation confectionery souvenirs, but added a “proof of trust” in products and individual packaging.
