The socialist constitutions were adopted under the influence of the Soviet and significant for the role it played for the independence of Mongolia. However, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, a window of opportunity presented itself and a liberal constitution was introduced. This time, Mongolia imported the liberal constitutional values independently and voluntarily. Constitutionalism, the concept of the limitation of state powers, separation of powers, human rights and freedom, originated in the west and spread all around the world.
