However, how Foucault understood neoliberalism is still being discussed since his attitude towards neoliberalism was equivocal. This paper attempts to reconsider Foucault’s view on neoliberalism from the perspective of \"subject formation”, which is an undercurrent of Foucault\u0027s thought. This paper first points out that the difficulty of understanding Foucault\u0027s view on neoliberalism stems from the problem of \"subject formation”. I argued that the deployment of the governed’s view was merely a methodological change and it can’t be considered as an affinity between Foucault and neoliberal ideas. Next, this paper argues that Foucault’s view on neoliberalism can also be understood as an genealogy of homo economicus.
