However, there is little study examining the relationship between psychological growth and athletic performance. Therefore, this study examined the relationship of ego development to competition level and the degree of making full use of one's ability during competition. High and low level groups of ego development were extracted from samples of 217 male and 163 female high school athletes. Then, both groups were compared in terms of competition level and the degree of making full use of one's ability during competition. The results indicated that the high level group of ego development included more athletes who play in higher competition levels than the low level group of ego development. The results also showed that the degree of making full use of one's ability during competition was higher for the high level group of ego development than the low level group of ego development. These results suggest that the idea of sport counseling stated above is reasonable.}, pages = {39--43}, title = {自我発達と競技レベルおよび実力発揮度の関連 : スポーツカウンセリングの理念の実証的検討}, volume = {26}, year = {2003} }
