Pulse check, which is one of palpation is delicate and most important examinations. In modern Oriental medicine a doctor feels a patient's pulse on "sunko" that is a radial-inner region of the wrist. He checks not only the number and rhythm but depth, length, width, strength, and puwer of waves with three different pressure of fingers. The condition of patient's whole body is reflected in "sunko" where is a key point of a systemic flow of blood and spirit. In modern Oriental medicine sick pulses are classified into 28 types. The coming-up, sinking, slow, fast, thin, smooth, rough, strained, soft, interrupting, or skipped pulse is commonly observed clinically.
