It is classified into several sub groups by "shō", subjective and objective signs. Endogenous causes from congenital constitution and exogenous factors such as life style and exposure to some kinds of poison are thought to be under the occurrence of "shōkatsu-byō". There is an obvious point of difference in therapy of diseases between Oriental medicine and Western medicine. Grounds for the choice of therapy in Oriental medicine are not diagnoses but "shō".
