The authors performed a health survey of people who pursued active social participation through learning at a college for seniors. The analyzed results were that senior learners were on the whole in excellent health and well-controlled the chronic ailments that were reported by some of them. By comparison with the general elderly population, however, it was not implied that they were strikingly above average in the physical health characteristics. Nevertheless, they showed consistently good attendance at college. The importance of maintaining social contacts through learning or other participation opportunities and their association with health consequences is to be discussed later in this article.}, pages = {105--109}, title = {Health status of older learners in active retirement}, volume = {15}, year = {1992} }
