Heart rates were measured for 24-hours by a heart rate recorder and the daily energy expenditure was calculated from V02-HR equations. The analysis of working postures was carried on on the basis of Time-study technique. The scores of pedometers, daily food intake and maximal aerobic uptake were also investigated. The subjects were 12 nursery governesses (20-39 years of age) and 2 office workers at a university (36 and 39 years of age). The energy expenditure during activities was calculated from equation for energy expenditure and heart rate. Obtained from treadmill and biycle test during low intensity activities, the presumed value of BMR of each subject was used for calculation of energy expenditure. During sleep, the value of 90% of BMR was used. The results are as follows: 1) The mean value of HR in a day was 80 ± 6 beats/min, amounting to 90 ± 6 beats/min during work. Nursery governesses showed higher value than office workers by 3 beats/min in a whole day and by 10 beats/min during work. 2) The average total energy expenditure in a day was 2105.3±220.3 kcal and the average energy expenditure during work time about 8 hours was 988.5 ± 239.5kcal. Nursery governesses spent about 450kcal higer in a day and about 300kcal higher during work time than that of office workers. Total energy expenditure in a day and the average energy expenditure during work were 0.03kcal/kg/min and 0.04kcal/kg/min, which were 0.007kcal and 0.012kcal higher than those of the office workers. 3) The average total energy expenditure in a day (0.03kcal/kg/min) of nursery governesses was regarded as "relatively heavy", according to the classfication in activity reported in Nutrition Requirements of the Japanese (The Welfare Ministry). 4) Energy expenditure and pedometer scores during work time became higher when nursery governesses took care of higher age group of the children older than 2 years. 5 ) The sitting position took more than half of all working hours, though the upper body was usually kept busy. The forward leaning position was about one-third of all working hours, and more for nursery governesses who took care of children younger 2 years. 6) The mean value of the maximal aerobic power of nursery governesses in the age of thirties was 37.68ml/kg/min, and in twenties, 41.04 ml/kg/min.}, pages = {115--128}, title = {保母の1日及び労働中の消費エネルギー量について}, volume = {8}, year = {1985} }
