Each was subjected to 3 tests listed below: 1) 100g oral glucose tolerance test (O-GTT) 2) 15min of jogging at the speed of 140m/min 45min after 100g glucose ingestion 3) 15min of jogging at the speed of 140m/min 60min after 100g glucose ingestion The results obtained were as follows; 1) Blood glucose concentration drastically decreased during jogging without an increase in serum insulin level. 2) Jogging after glucose ingestion brought about the rebound of blood glucose concentration, which might impair the carbohydrate metabolism in patients with metabolic disorders such as diabetes or obesity. 3) Lipolysis occurred during jogging though glucose was orally ingested. 4) Lactate, ketone bodies and human growth hormone levels showed no changes. The results of this study seem to suggest that jogging is suitable therapy for patients with metabolic disorders, not only in controlling blood glucose levels but also in reducing the body weight of diabetic and obese patients.
