At the two sampling sites in the Nagura tidal flat, western coast of Ishigaki Island, the bivalves were found in 67-78% of the burrows of the former echiuran and in 92% of the latter. Each burrow was inhabited usually by a single bivalve, but rarely up to 5 individuals.
