 note = {The process of growth in height of schoolchildren (366 boys and 368 girls), who were born from April in 1959 to March in 1962, was investigated. They were separated into three groups (tall, medium and short) by the percentile method at the 1st grade of elementary school, at the 1st grade of junior highschool, and at the 3rd grade of highschool. Then we have observed the change of the groups in which they were at each grade. 1) At the 1st grade of junior highschool, most of the children were in the same groups in which they were at the 1st grade of elementary school. 75.4% of boys and 72.0% of girls of the tall group and 79.2% of boys and 68.5% of girls of the short group at the 1st grade of elementary school were in this case. 2) At the 3rd grade of highschool, most of the pupils were in the same groups in which they were at the 1st grade of junior highschool. 58.3% of boys and 63.9% of girls of the tall group and 63.1% of boys and 62.3% of girls of the short group at the 1st grade of junior highschool were in this case. 3) At the 3rd grade of highschool, most of the children were in the same groups in which they were at the 1st grade of elementary school. 69.5% of boys and 59.7% of girls of the tall group and 74.2% of boys and 61.5% of girls of the short group at the 1st grade of elementary school were in this case. 4) In this study there was no significant difference in growth between boys and girls, except that the number of girls who moved from the short group to other groups was larger than that of boys. 5) The 1st grade of junior highschool is one of the "peak-height-velocity-ages", but this growth pattern of the children in height was the same at that of other period. From these results it might be concluded that the body length of highschool students has almost been decided during elementary school ages.},
