It seems, however, that the satisfactory method to assess n Ach for athletes has not been developed. In the present study, using pictures of McClelland's Thematic Apperception Test (T.A.T.) and sport situation, it was aimed to examine which pictures were reasonably suitable for measuring n Ach in sports. In survey I, thirty four university soccer players were employed as athletes A, twenty four university soccer players as athletes B, and twenty seven university female students as nonathletes. It was assumed that n Ach of athleses A and B might be more stronger than of nonathletes. However, n Ach scores obtained on the McClelland's T.A.T. did not differenciate for these three groups. It appears that the McClelland's pictures are not appropriate for measuring n Ach in sports. In survey II, eighty nine university male athletes involved in several athletic contests were assessed in n Ach by the pictures of McClelland's T.A.T. and sport situation. As the result, n Ach scores obtained by administering the pictures of sport situation were significantly higher than by the McClelland's T.A.T. Significant correlation was found between n Ach scores on the pictures of sport situation and the scores of athletes' achievement-oriented behavior which were evaluated by coaches. Farthermore, as far as n Ach scores for sport situation concerns, athletes at high level were significantly higher than athletes at low level. It can be concluded that the pictures of sport situation administered in the present study have more higher validity to measure n Ach in sports than the pictures of McClelland's T.A.T.}, pages = {9--15}, title = {投影法によるスポーツ選手の達成動機測定の試み}, volume = {3}, year = {1980} }
