It is native to Australia, New Guinea and Moluccas. It was widely planted as a street tree in Sabah. It grew so well that 1973 Sabah forester introduced it into plantation trials. On good sites it matched growth with better-known fast growing species, on degraded lateritic clay and worn-out agricultural lands it exceled all other trees. Plantations have been established even in areas dominated by tenacious tropical weeds such as lmperata grass, Alan alan. It is a new resource for the tropics. It has a better form and superior wood. It is planted for fuel, animal feed, nurse tree and for common use of timber and pulp. Specific gravity of wood is 0.56. Anatomical characteristics are shown in micrographs.}, pages = {169--170}, title = {早生樹種の木材組織(その5) : アカシア・マンギューム : Acacia mangium Willd.; Leguminosae マメ科}, volume = {1}, year = {1985} }
