Many of his works, such as Voyage au bout de la nuit (1932) vividly depict the fears and traumas of war for the protagonist-narrator. However, is war always presented as a subject of fear and trauma in his writings? This study suggests that the view of the war in Guignol' s Band , the novel that he began writing in 1940, may reflect his experiences as a ship's doctor aboard the Chella early this year. This experience gave him positive memories of the military and the war. This paper also shows that the war in this novel is an object of satire and ridicule rather than fear under the influence of this experience . I compare this novel with other works and his letters to friends in which he mentioned the vessel, and with the novel Londres, written in 1934, which has a similar setting to Guignol's Band. The experience on the Chella gave his work a more objective perspective on the war than in his earlier works. In Guignol's Band , the protagonistnarrator's fear of war is less than in Voyage au bout de la nu it and Londres, and a more cynical view of war has been shown. For example, in Londres, we see a protagonist-narrator who never wants to go to war again and a nation that wants to send him back to the battlefield. In Guignol's Band, on the other hand, the protagonist -narrator volunteers to serve again, but the military doctor (and the state behind him) rejects his request. Céline's service on the Chella has received less attention than his service during World War I or his exile at the end of World War II. However, this experience may have played a significant role in changing the worldview of his work, especially the view of war. Thus, analyzing the impact of this experience on his texts is essential when evaluating Céline's work as war literature.}, pages = {141--154}, title = {『ギニョルズ・バンド』の戦争観とセリーヌのシェラ号経験}, volume = {7}, year = {2024} }
