 note = {The independent living movement for people with disabilities and the ethics of care are incompatible. The independent living movement in particular has distanced itself from the ethics of care. Historically, people with disabilities have been suppressed under the care of their parents even though they were protected by their parents, spurring the independent living movement, where people live independently with personal assistance in the community, rather than with their parents or in a facility. However, the movement has stalled, sometimes neglecting aspects of care that are important to humans. The time has come for the independent living movement to reconsider the value of care.},
