Both types are important, but as most current ideology regarding social education research focuses on pedagogy and its relation to social issues, so, too, has my research been directed. Early in my research career, I conducted historical research on social issues and social education. My research career can be divided into five historical periods of Japanese education: the interwar period, the postwar reform period, the period of high economic growth, the period of low growth and economic power, and the period of widening inequality. It is this background that has informed my current ideas regarding today’s social issues and social education. When social problems occur that are left unaddressed, the increase of public dissatisfaction impacts the existing social system negatively, which results in the necessity for educational countermeasures. Since this approach can be a selfish, conciliatory approach with its emphasis on singular issues, appropriate educational constructs should be employed to counter any effects from the implemented measures. Both aspects impacting change are relevant to the notion of social education with its focus on adult learning. Looking at this historical dynamism, I have been conducting research on social education as a social issue itself. In the middle of my career, my research emphasized ways to address social welfare as a contemporary social issue in social education. Initially, I conducted research on welfare education in response to Japan’s aging society, considering the potential for addressing the problem by increasing volunteerism, as well as by including organizations such as NPO’s. Subsequently, I investigated the educational welfare required in the face of widening socioeconomic disparities, with a focus on citizen’s movements that shed light on issues such as poverty, disabilities, and discrimination. The increase of such social issues has emerged as challenges to Japanese society that need to be addressed, and for which, there is growing consensus to do so. Simultaneously, I conducted research on public social education during a time when the reorganization of local governments was common, and examined the issues addressed by administrative staff responsible for new social education practices. Toward the end of my research career, my work showed how the cooperative ideas of bringing people together encouraged by a social welfare ideology became intertwined with a community’s desire for autonomy. In other research, I also suggested the need to advance research on school education to enrich the transition period from school to society. Throughout these research periods I have continued to explore the “pedagogy of social issues.” Now as I retire, with more than forty years of research, I reflect on my research journey, and hope to sincerely express my gratitude to everyone, especially all the wonderful people I have met through my work, as well as to all those who contributed towards my research, over such a meaningful and long period of my life.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.18999/nueduca.70.2.1","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_32":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"名古屋大学大学院教育発達科学研究科","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"The Graduate School of Education and Human Development, Nagoya University","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_9_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"収録物識別子","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1346-0307","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"open access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"辻, 浩","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"TSUJI, Yutaka","creatorNameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2024-04-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"nueduca7002_01-01.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"437 KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://nagoya.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2009818/files/nueduca7002_01-01.pdf"},"version_id":"2d47ac08-4075-40a6-96ca-485d9a6ccdcb"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"社会問題の教育学を求めて","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"社会問題の教育学を求めて","subitem_title_language":"ja"}]},"item_type_id":"40001","owner":"17","path":["1711935454918"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2024-04-01"},"publish_date":"2024-04-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"2009818","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["社会問題の教育学を求めて"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-04-01T04:29:50.432642+00:00"}
