| 内容記述 | After World War Ⅱ, many Japanese people revisited the war zone in order to recover the remains of soldiers and console the spirits of people killed in the war. This paper called these action Revisiting the War Zone（〈戦地再訪〉）. Ooka Shohei was one person who revisited the war zone. He was dispatched as a soldier in the Philippines in the Asian-Pacific War. After the war he revisited the Philippines in 1967. This visit was his long-held desire because he wanted to recover the remains of soldiers and console the spirits of people killed in the war. After two years, he wrote about this experience in his work “Mindoro-tou Futatabi”（1969）. This work was written to recreate his experience when he revisited there. This paper compares a manuscript and a definitive edition, and it makes clear that this work was to express himself at the point in time he revisited there. Moreover, this work reflected his change of mind during that time. This paper considers the influence it had on his mind, especially focusing on meeting people in the Philippines. They were not only Filipinos but also Japanese people. He revisited Leyte Island with Japanese families who had family members die in the war, and Mindoro Island with a Japanese young editor and a photographer who did not have much war experiences. This paper analyzes the people who he met in the Philippines and influenced him. It is important that Japanese people look back on the war in Japan or in former war zones, because it gives a different perspective. Ooka desired to revisit the Philippines because he thought he could remember what he had forgotten there. This paper argues that his experience became not only looking back on the past but also turning his attention to the present. | |||||||||
