| 内容記述 | In elementary school science textbooks, personification and container metaphors play a crucial role in helping students understand “physical phenomena that we cannot see in our daily lives.” Strictly speaking, these phenomena refer to aspects of the natural sciences that we cannot directly experience with our bodies. Objects that are not human are often personified in these texts, while non-human actions are interpreted as human actions. In addition, concrete objects--such as humans, animals, plants, and materials, --that are not typically viewed as containers are construed as such. Their structure and function are understood in terms of the relationship between the container and its contents, illustrating the process of contents moving in and out of the container. For celestial objects and landforms, which are challenging to comprehend in this way, understanding often relies on subjective interpretation--viewing them “as they appear” or imagining events that have not occured in reality. Through experiments and metaphorical illustrations, science textbooks facilitate visual understanding, ultimately helping children grasp the aforementioned phenomena. | |||||||||||||
