| 内容記述 | Time perspective is defined as the totality of the individual’s view of one’s psychological future and psychological past existing at a given time. Time perspective develops with a sense of identity during adolescence and determines the individual’s present behavior. In previous studies, negative time perspective, being absorbed in momentary and present hedonistic is one of a factor that causes the problems in adolescents’ psychological health such as distress or anxiety and psychosocial behavior like delinquency. On the other hand, positive time perspective like hope for the future is related to well-being. Most of these findings were reported by cross-sectional design, but recently there has been a trend toward clarifying the associations between time perspective and psychological health through longitudinal studies. Longitudinal design is being focused because it quantifies the relationships and changes in psychological states over time. This article reviews previous studies on longitudinal studies about associations between time perspective and psychological health variables. Upon review, we reported previous research on longitudinal studies about time perspective in three categories, health behavior, identity, and psychological health. Several studies conducted with adolescents over months to years and reported that positive time perspective and life satisfaction or identity mutually reinforce one another across time. At the same time, coping style mediated the longitudinal bidirectional relationships between future time perspective and negative emotional states. To summarize these findings, time perspective and psychological health states identified bidirectional effects. In other words, it is assumed cyclical function that one’s time perspective is developed, and psychological health is good, leading to the maintenance of further time perspective. However, few studies found bidirectional effects of time perspective and psychological health at all research time points. Based on these reviews, we conclude future research should address the following two points. First, further study is needed to clarify the process explained for the longitudinal relationships between time perspective and psychological health. For example, there are still issues in examining the mediating effects in the relationships between time perspective and psychological health. Second, there are not many intervention studies on time perspective and psychological health. Future research needs to conduct efficient interventions developed both time perspective and psychological health. | |||||||||||||
